Inspiring the next generation of Vets and Vet Nurses is important to us at Brentknoll Vets... after all, they'll be the ones caring for our pets when we've retired!
Over recent months we have visited several schools and colleges as part of their inspiring futures events.
Veterinary nurse Hayley Oates and Client Care Supervisor Jenni Miles attended the careers fayre at Perry Wood Primary school earlier in the year. Speaking to primary school students about their future aspirations and we're happy to report there are many budding vets among them. It's obviously too early for them to be making career goals and further education options, but this event was a great opportunity to tell them about what it's like to work at a vets and what we do each day.
The young pupils enjoyed having a go at bandaging our model patients and trying on surgical gowns and masks. We even landed a spot in the local Newspaper (Image taken from Worcester News (right)
Client Care member Kate Kitchener and Student Veterinary Nurse Naomi Hodgkins showed their support for another careers event.
This time based in Redditch for 'Inspired to work', a careers event organised by Heart of Worcestershire College in partnership with their Redditch campus.
This time students were of an older age so the staff spoke to pupils about the Veterinary industry and how to pursue a career as a vet or veterinary nurse.
Student nurse Naomi was able to tell them about her experience of Veterinary nurse training and answered their questions about the process.
A great day was had by all and good luck to all the budding vets and nurses who spoke to us!
