We hope that your pet shouldn’t require surgical intervention, but sometimes it is necessary. That’s why we offer a first rate surgical team and facilities.

Our surgical department is highly advanced and our Veterinary Surgeons have years of experience – so you can rest assured, your pet is in very safe hands and will be getting the very best care from our fully qualified Veterinary Nurses.

The types of surgery performed at Brentknoll Veterinary Centre include but are not limited to:

  • Oncology (chemotherapy /lump removal)
  • Airway & Cardiac surgery
  • Broken bones / Fracture Repair
  • Minor injuries
  • Neutering Dental Scale & Polish / Extractions
  • Laparoscopic Spays (dogs)
  • Orthopaedic Surgery

We have two purpose built operating theatres on site all of which are modern, fully equipped and spotlessly clean – to minimise the risk of infection.

Here at Brentknoll Veterinary Centre we are very proud of our kennel nurses – a role which isn’t typical in many practices. Their sole responsibility is to take care and monitor inpatients, ensuring they have clean water, food and are given medication etc throughout their stay, so you can rest assured knowing that your pets aren’t left alone and are receiving top quality aftercare and lots of TLC!

If your pet needs surgery

Surgery - nurse and dog patientIf the Vet recommends surgery for your pet we’re here to help you through the process, which we understand can be upsetting.

We’ll let you know exactly what to expect on the day, with our fully comprehensive pre-operative guidance sheets and a courtesy phone call the night before to remind you of important information like when to remove food and water. Our team will also discuss post-operative care at home and how to help your pet recover as quickly as possible afterwards.

Sometimes after surgery, we may recommend complimentary treatments such as hydrotherapy or McTimoney animal manipulation sessions to help your pet recover as quickly as possible. Post operative check ups may be required to ensure your pet is healing properly, these may be with the Veterinary Nurse for routine procedures like neutering, or with the Veterinary Surgeon for other procedures like orthopaedics or dental extractions.

If surgery has been recommended for your pet and you’d like to know more or to book your pet in, please call us on 01905 355938
